The Time Traveler's Wife

Monday, August 17, 2009

I recently read this book and thought it was such a great read. Perfect for the sappy romantic in each of us (girls, that is). Although I will warn that unless you are looking for a good cry, don't read this. I thought Niffenegger did such a great job writing this book. Definitely a must read.

Also, is anybody else excited about the movie? I thought the casting for it was perfect! They're great actor/actresses and really fits my image of Henry and Claire. Can't wait! Now I've just gotta convince Beau to go with me... Wish me luck :)

Pagosa in the Winter

So I was cleaning up our laptop and found these pretty pictures from our trip to Pagosa in February and felt like posting them up... six months later :)

It was such a beautiful place to be... it makes a person appreciate the beauty of winter. Even if it was freezing!

Oh and....

:) I was really sad to find that it was gone the next morning.

Happy Birthday Beau!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Beau's birthday is actually on Friday, 6/12 but I'm a slacker and hasn't gotten around to posting anything yet.

We were able to request an extended weekend off from work and got to spend thursday, friday, saturday, and sunday together. Thursday was exciting for both of us because Beau got to meet my dad and I got to see him again after 5 years :) it was really nice even though there was a language barrier between them.

Anyway, I made the mistake of letting Beau make his own plans for his birthday and how he wants to spend it. So we ended up going to a bunch of car places, first the VW junkyard and then over to the shop so he can do some work to his Subaru. Let's just say I've learned my lesson and have vowed to make plans in advance for any future special days. We still had a fun day and went out to dinner at Macaroni Grill, his favorite Italian restaurant.

It's been a really fun weekend and we are really sad to be going to work again tomorrow morning :(

Break at Last

Thursday, June 4, 2009

It felt like such a LONG semester and I'm very very very grateful for the summer break. I made my choice this semester to go into the pharmacy program at UNM. That means that I've only got one more year then it's onto pharmacy school if I get in :)

Beau and I are planning to have the most adventurous summer this year since my life will be taken away by school for good this fall (I'm taking 24 hours...)

If anyone has fun activities in mind, we appreciate suggestions!

School Mode

Saturday, January 31, 2009

It's another wonderful semester of school. It's the third week back and I've got 3 tests next week. I know I shouldn't be complaining because it'll only get worse but now all I can think about is how woe is me... I probably have already said this but I admire the people out there who managed to go to school full time, work, and some even raise kids all at the same time. It takes A LOT.

An update on my running progress: I got a pair of running shoes a couple of weeks ago, was really pumped up and set my alarm for 6:30 the next morning. Then when morning rolls around, I turned it off in a fit of frustration, wondering why it doesn't just turn itself off after 15 minutes and went back to bed. So much for that. I haven't tried since then... I'm not giving up yet though!

Anyway, here's a nice picture for all of us who wish we were sitting in those chairs... on a warm summer day... drinking an ice cold drink.

Running Machine(s)

Thursday, January 8, 2009

Most people think I'm crazy for complaining about how out of shape I am. There's a difference being skinny and being fit, and I am definitely not fit. I decided that for this new year, I'm gonna start running and by sometime next year, I wanna be able to run a half marathon. A little ambitious, I know, but hopefully that'll push me. When I told Beau, he offered to run with me. We're both so out of shape and are really in need of some exercise. It'll be a fun thing to do together. Wish us luck!

A Thousand Splendid Suns

Sunday, January 4, 2009

I think this was one of the best books I've read in quite a while. It was so touching to read about the culture and lives that these people lived. The author has a way of painting such a realistic picture with his words. After reading the Kite Runner, I was a little weary coming into this one but it's worth it. It is a tough read but I highly recommend it.
